Cet appareil-photo a été fabriqué à Hanovre, où Glunz avaient ses usines, et importé en France par Tiranty.
Ce modèle 301, un folding "self erecting", est une nouveauté Tiranty de 1932. Il sera remplacé en 1934 par le 301 bis qui sera une version avec moins de combinaisons d'objectifs et d'obturateurs.
Le 301 peut se rencontrer avec un objectif Glunz ouvrant à 4,5 ou 6,5 et avec un obturateur Vario, Pronto S, Compur ou Compur S, ces Compur n'étant disponibles qu'avec l'objectif le plus lumineux.
